Artifact 1- Storybook
This artifact is known as the Storybook project. For this project, I took a regular hardcopy book and converted it into an e-book. Now this can be used in book reading softwares to be read aloud to a student with disabilities. In my future classroom, I could use this book, or create others like it, for students who comprehend and learn more effectively when text is read to them.

ISTE-S 1.a:
My students will achieve this standard because they will be "leveraging technology" by using the digital form of the book to improve the learning outcome. They will learn how to navigate an e-text book. By choosing to use an e-text, they could possibly better understand the text and improve comprehension. This book could be used as a tool in my future classroom for students to pick at any time.
ISTE-E 2:
I met this standard by choosing a book that might support my students’ empowerment. By providing them with a book that is based around the topic of diversity, I am showing them that it is okay to be different and to use their differences to their advantage. Helping them realize this may also improve their learning outcomes.
InTASC Principle #2
I understand that not every child learns and develops the same way. The creation of this storybook reflects that understanding by giving students another option. If students do not effectively read by themselves, they can use the tool that I have created to listen to the book instead and improve their own learning outcome.

Living in America means that there is a lot of diversity. There are people from all walks of life. With that being said, there are many different types of people with many different beliefs, values, traditions, etc. We, as Americans, get to experience these differences through media, books, television and many other forms. I, personally, come from a very close knit family who has a history and ancestry rooted in different parts of Europe. Because of that, my family has traditions and beliefs that other families do not have. I think it is important for students to learn about different cultures and their beliefs and values so that they can experience more than what is inside their own families. The book I chose for this project showcases different children that have various types of disabilities. Throughout the story, we meet the children one-by-one and see how they showcase their disability as an ability and what makes them special.
A student who would benefit from this story the most would be a student who also has a physical disability or a student who can relate to the different characters in the book. While reading the book, the student would realize that their disability does not have to hold them back and they are special. They just have to learn to use the disability in a different way than other students.
